DAILY BUY GUIDE

Power Outage Checklist

A short checklist to run through before the next outage. Always follow local emergency guidance, and keep this list near your supplies.

Light

Keep at least one flashlight or headlamp per person and a lantern for shared spaces. Store spare batteries or keep rechargeable lights charged. Avoid candles when you can: open flames are a fire risk.

Information

Cell service and Wi-Fi can fail during storms. A battery, solar or hand-crank weather radio keeps you informed without them.

Charging

Charge phones and power banks before the storm arrives. Keep a charged power bank in your kit, and consider a solar panel for longer outages.

Water

Ready.gov recommends storing at least one gallon of water per person per day, for at least three days. Add a way to treat or filter water if supplies run low.
